Vishnu Prabhakar passes away

NEW DELHI: Renowned Hindi author Vishnu Prabhakar died in a hospital in the Capital on Saturday after a brief illness. He was 97.

Prabhakar had left word that his body be donated to the All-Institute of Medical Sciences for research.

According to Prabhakar’s son Atul, the grand old man of letters had been in hospital since March 23 with a heart problem and urine infection.

The writer was honoured by the nation with the Padma Bhushan and Sahitya Akademi awards. He served as Drama director at All India Radio from 1955 to 1957. He is survived by two sons and two daughters.
