Manipal: Pro-Chancellor of Manipal University H.S. Ballal inaugurated the laser technology treatment facility at the Manipal Assisted Reproductive Centre (MARC) in Kasturba Hospital here on Saturday. According to the centre, this laser unit would help in fertility treatment. Head of the Department of OBG and Reproductive Medicine Pratap Kumar said that more than 3,000 people had benefited from the fertility treatments provided by the MARC. The launching of laser unit would help its cause further, he said. Vice-Chancellor of Manipal University Rajasekharan P. Warrier stressed the need for research in fertility treatment. Dean of Kasturba Medical College P. Sripati Rao welcomed the gathering. Associate Professor and Chief Embryologist Satish Adiga spoke on the use of laser technology in In-vitro fertilization (IVF). Registrar of Manipal University G.K. Prabhu released the brochure of MARC.
