Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy who is seeking re-election from Nalgonda LS, campaigns at the bus station NALGONDA: As electioneering reached its final phase, the politicians are making a beeline to the bus station to seek the votes of the passengers who are bound for different destinations. The bus stand in the heart of the town has become a hub of political activity on the eve of elections following the frequent visits of the politicians to the station to reach out to a wider section of the voters. CPI national deputy general secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, who is seeking re-election from Nalgonda Parliament seat, campaigned at the bus station on Sunday. Accompanied by the party cadres clad in red dresses and caps, the seasoned politician, who held important posts like chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on labour, closely mingled with the passengers and sought their votes. Even as the party cadres distributed books titled “Parliamentlo Praja Vani” containing the main speeches of Mr Reddy on important public issues including the expansion of the national highway 9, fluoride menace, unearthing of the black money of Indians from the Swiss bank in the Parliament , the senior CPI leader accompanied by his son and daughter-in-law campaigned on the premises of the bus station. Focus on issuesLater, speaking to newsmen Reddy said that he had successfully raised the voice of the people in the Parliament on various public issues. “The detrimental move to take up opencast uranium mining near Nagarjunasagar and set up a field firing range near Rachakonda were dropped following my intervention”, he said. Special observersMr. Reddy urged the Election Commission to appoint special observers in all the Assembly segments in Nalgonda Parliament constituency to check immoral practices and the influence of money and muscle power in the general elections. He alleged that liquor and money was being illegally transported in milk cans and other modes in a clandestine manner by vested elements. The Congress led UPA government failed to take up the expansion of NH-9, he charged. He alleged that the Congress leaders were carrying out a false propaganda through commercial advertisements against him.
