Barnala in Puducherry

PUDUCHERRY: Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, who has been given additional charge as Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory, arrived here on Sunday.

Mr. Barnala, who was given the additional charge on April 8 following the death of Govind Singh Gurjar, has taken charge immediately.

“This is his first visit to Puducherry and he will be leaving for Chennai on Monday evening,” an official in the Raj Nivas told The Hindu.

Chief Minister V. Vaithilingam received Mr. Barnala at the Upplam helipad. Speaker R. Radhakrishnan, Public Works Minister M.O.H.F. Shahjahan and Collector Ragesh Chandra were also present.
