Unflappable CEO

P.V. Sivakumar
Hyderabad

Chief Electoral Officer I.V. Subba Rao holds one of the most stress-filled jobs in the State, but he never loses his cool. The smile on the face of the CEO never fades, as he handles visitors, answers calls and attends to a mountain of paperwork.

He’s also ever obliging. A news cameraman asks him, “Sir, can I get a EPIC card to vote?” He puts in a word to the officer concerned.

A letter from a group of poor Dalits from Chitoor asks him to provide security from upper caste landlords on polling day. Mr. Rao calls up the SP and Collector, Chitoor, tells them to provide security, and marks the request in writing .

And just as he finishes an exhausting video-conference with Collectors, a woman reporter of a TV channel has a request: “Sir, can I have a walk through interview with you?” He readily agrees.

Media circles call him the ‘Chief Executive Officer,’ for nothing escapes his attention.
