SALEM: Over 2,000 people in the Salem Corporation limits have submitted Form 6 seeking inclusion of their names in the photo electoral rolls on Monday, the last day for submission of claims under the special summary revision.

Braving the scorching sun, a large number of people thronged the main office of the civic body, which carries out the summary revision for the Salem North and Salem South Assembly segments in the district.

People waited in serpentine queues to submit the forms.

More staff

The civic body deputed more staff members and opened additional counters for receiving the forms.

The forms would be processed quickly and a door-to-door exercise would be carried out to verify the details in the forms.

Eligible persons would be included in the photo electoral rolls and electoral photo identity cards would be issued to them immediately, officials said.

The preparation of electoral photo identity cards (EPIC) for the voters would be carried out at the EPIC centre for the two Assembly segments located at the civic body’s main office.

Corporation Commissioner K.S. Palanisamy asked the officials to ensure 100 per cent accuracy in the preparation of electoral rolls.

Meanwhile, officials also received a large number of forms for inclusion of names in the electoral rolls in other Assembly segments in the district.
