Meerut triple murder accused held

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A 40-year-old man wanted in connection with a triple murder at Meerut in Uttar Pradesh last year has been arrested by the Delhi police. A country-made firearm and six live cartridges were purportedly seized from him.

The police received a tip-off that Badaruddin, who was wanted for the murders of Sunil Dhaka, Sunil Kumar and Punit Kumar Giri in Meerut last year, would come to Delhi’s Chandni Mahal area on Sunday. A trap was laid and he was arrested after a firearm was allegedly seized from him.

During interrogation, the accused identified himself as Badaruddin and purportedly confessed to his involvement in the triple murder. The Uttar Pradesh police had declared a reward of Rs.1,000 on his head.

The accused and his accomplices had brutally murdered the three young men and dumped their bodies into a Maruti Esteem car on Baghpat Road in UP.
