“Ensure 100 per cent compliance with guidelines”

KARUR: All officers involved in election related work should put in their best to ensure 100 per cent compliance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, District Collector J. Umamaheswari told the officials in a meeting here.

The elections called for a firm commitment from the official machinery and every officer should stand up to the task and be counted, she said pointing to the various directives of the Commission.

Their primary task was to ensure that the political parties and candidates played the game within the rules, she observed. One major task was to look out for the unauthorized display of publicity material in public and private places and walls. Be strict in dealing with such violations, she exhorted the officials.

Besides she also advised the department heads to keep ready the government vehicles for election related work in times of emergency. Coordinated work would ensure a smooth election process, Dr. Umamaheswari said.

District Revenue officer C. Munirathinam, , Personal Assistant (Elections) to Collector Manivannan, Special Tahsildar (Elections) Uttaman and heads of various government departments took part in the deliberations.
