KPTCL official attacked, dies
Staff Reporter
Bangalore: Chief Vigilance Officer of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. K.S Thammaiah was killed after he was attacked by four unidentified persons near Ananthapura Gate in Yelahanka New Town on Monday.
Mr. Thammaiah, who was on his way home from office, was dragged out of the car and assaulted with sickles, rods and knives. His driver suffered minor injuries. The official, who suffered multiple injuries on his face, stomach and head, died at M.S. Ramaiah Hospital.
Mr. Thammaiah, who was Additional Superintendent of Police in Hassan district, retired two years ago. He was appointed on contract basis by KPTCL in its vigilance division.
“We do not know the motive behind the incident or the persons who did it,” a relative of Mr. Thammaiah said.
“They first threw a stone at the car’s window. When the driver got down to see what had happened, they pulled him aside and dragged Mr. Thammaiah out of the vehicle and attacked him,” the relative said.
Senior police officials, including Additional Commissioner (Law and Order) M.R. Pujar, visited the hospital.
