‘Sports Complex not cleared by DUAC’

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Development Authority’s proposal to develop the Yamuna Sports Complex in Surajmal Vihar for various sporting activities for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in the city has not been cleared by the Delhi Urban Art Commission, according to YSC convenor Sanjeev Bhasin.

“The DUAC secretary, Sanjib Sengupta, has in a letter issued to us over the weekend said that the proposed development of the Yamuna Sports Complex for the table tennis competition for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010 has not yet been approved. Also, the letter said that from records available no proposal regarding an archery stadium and conversion of a cricket ground into a hockey field has been submitted to the Commission for approval,” said Mr. Bhasin.

“We have also sent a copy to the L-G,” he added.
