CEO gives clean chit to Eenadu
HYDERABAD: Chief Electoral Officer I. V. Subba Rao on Tuesday gave a clean chit to Eenadu daily on the charge that it had published an advertisement of the Telugu Desam party on the last page of the issue dated April 13 without mentioning the name of the sponsor.
He, however, said he would examine if action could be taken against the paper on the allegation that it was regularly publishing reports and articles against Congress and its candidates as alleged by Congress leaders.
Congress leaders, led by party vice-president M. Gangadharam, complained to the CEO earlier, seeking action against the paper for influencing voters by publishing one-sided and negative reports against Congress and its candidates “as a policy”.
The delegation said the advertisement did not carry the name of the sponsors.
