Sandeep Dikshit, Chetan Chauhan, B.L. Sharma ‘Prem’ meet voters

NEW DELHI: In view of the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and Baisakhi celebrations on Tuesday, several Lok Sabha candidates across the Capital planned their electoral campaigns around the events.

‘Architect of the Constitution’

While visiting Vishwas Nagar, the BJP candidate from East Delhi, Chetan Chauhan, said: “Dr. Ambedkar was not only the architect of the Constitution but also a thinker whose relevance will always remain in Indian society. He made the Dalits aware of their self-respect and rights and it is due to his efforts that they are now part of the mainstream of society.”

Apart from Vishwas Nagar, Mr. Chauhan also visited Gagan Vihar, Hargovind Enclave, Anand Vihar, Karkardooma and East Arjun Nagar to seek the support of the electorate.

The BJP candidate from North-East Delhi, B. L. Sharma “Prem”, planned his electoral programme on Tuesday around Baisakhi celebrations. He visited Vikas Colony, Rohtas Nagar, Harsh Vihar and Dilshad Garden among other places.

‘Strengthen our hands’

The Congress candidate from East Delhi, Sandeep Dikshit, urged the voters to strengthen the hands of a national party like the Congress.

“Regional parties undermine national interests in Parliament and only the Congress has the right credentials of a national party,” he added.

He asked the electorate not to get swayed by the parties or contestants raking up local issues at the cost of larger concerns in these Lok Sabha polls.
