Software engineer found hanging

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: A software engineer committed suicide in his room in Kottivakkam here on Monday.

According to police sources, R. Arun Kumar (24), working in a leading software firm, was found hanging by his roommates. Police shifted the body to the Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem.

Preliminary enquiries revealed that Arun was very fond of his cousin, Chitra, who committed suicide at Medavakkam a couple of days ago. In a suicide note, he said that he was going to meet Chitra.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Thoraipakkam), K.N. Murali, said that the victim was in a state of depression after the funeral of his cousin. Soon after his friends left for work on Monday, he took the extreme step.

The suicide came to light only at around 11 p.m. Arun was a mechanical engineering graduate from the College of Engineering, Guindy, he added.
