PALACOLE (WEST GODAVARI DISTRICT): TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday .

He predicted that both the Congress and the BJP could not come to power at the Centre. An alternative formation would emerge with TDP as a main

Addressing an impressive election rally Mr. Naidu appeared to have made a conscious bid to infuse confidence in the party ranks during his roadshows in the delta parts of West Godavari district on Thursday by exuding confidence over the performance of the Grand Alliance in the first phase of elections.

He stated that the GA would secure 110-120 seats in the areas which went to the polls in the first phase on Thursday.

The TDP leader, who made a night halt here on Wednesday after completing his election campaign in East Godavari district, got back to Hyderabad by helicopter to exercise his franchise and later restored his roadshow at 4 p.m.

Mr. Naidu targeted PRP president Chiranjeevi who was contesting in Palacole Assembly segment.

The TDP leader said Mr. Chiranjeevi had ‘run away’ from his birthplace of Mogalturu which fell under Narsapur Assembly constituency, to Palacole which was his in-laws place. Mr. Chandrababu said the actor-turned leader had no popular base in his native place and that he opted for Palacole.

“You give all the honour due to a son-in-law, but not vote for him as he will not be within your reach after elections”, Mr. Naidu told the voters.

Asserting that his party candidate in Palacole, T. Satyanarayana Murthy (Babji) was known for his public service and honesty, the TDP chief stated that only service would win over Mr. Chiru’s film glamour and the alleged money power of the Congress candidate Bangaru Usha Rani. Saying that the TDP would come to power in the State with a thumping majority, he promised to accommodate Mr. Babji into the Cabinet.

Mr. Naidu said the dream of Mr. Chiranjeevi would just remain a dream only. Describing the actor-turned leader as a political novice, he said the PRP chief was like a driver of a rail engine (his party election symbol)’ without any experience in driving.
