Sixty-one per cent polling in RR district

HYDERABAD: Turnout in the rural areas was higher than in urban parts of the Ranga Reddy district where 61.14 per cent of voters exercised their franchise. Polling for two Parliamentary constituencies and 14 Assembly constituencies was held on Thursday.

District Collector M. Dana Kishore said the polling was by and large peaceful. However, problems occurred in 16 polling stations in Medhcal, Uppal, LB Nagar, Rajendranagar, Tandur and Serilingampally constituencies due to the non-functioning of EVMs which were immediately rectified. Election code of conduct was strictly implemented .
