NEW DELHI: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) on Thursday stated that its thermal power-generating sets produced over four per cent more electricity in 2008-09 than the previous fiscal beating even the national average and setting a new record. In a statement here, the company said power generation received a boost with BHEL-built thermal sets generating over four per cent more electricity in the last fiscal as compared to 2007-08. BHEL-manufactured thermal sets achieved a plant load factor (PLF) of 80.1 per cent, which is 3.1 per cent higher than the national average, it said. During the year, the sets generated 403.43 billion units of electricity, which constituted 79 per cent of the total power generated from coal-based thermal sets, against 387.71 billion units in the previous fiscal, the statement said. BHEL had already enhanced its manufacturing capacity to 10,000 MW annually and is further augmenting it to 15,000 MW.
