Stone-pelting in Maheswaram
HYDERABAD: Mild tension prevailed at a polling station located in the local Government School for Boys in Maheswaram when the activists of Congress and Telugu Desam hurled stones on each other. Five persons sustained injuries in the incident. Trouble started around 4 p.m. when workers of the two parties gathered there alleging that polling was being continued even after the stipulated time. They did not pay heed to the explanation of the election staff that they were allowing only those voters who had stood in the queue by 4 p.m. The police resorted to lathi charge to disperse the stone-pelting crowds and brought the situation under control.
