Man succumbs to injuries
Special Correspondent
VILLUPURAM: A 42-year-old man, who was beaten up with a cricket bat two days ago, succumbed to injuries in hospital on Thursday.
He was identified as S. Parthiban of Nattarmangalam near Ginjee.
The police said that when brothers R. Sarathkumar (19) and R. Vinodh (17) of the same area were playing cricket on vacant land belonging to a local temple, Parthiban went there in an inebriated condition and reprimanded them for playing there.
He pulled out one of the stumps and beat up Sarathkumar.
In retaliation Sarathkumar attacked him with the cricket bat. A severely injured Parthiban was admitted to JIPMER Hospital in Puducherry.
