CHENNAI: Two youths were arrested on Friday in connection with a robbery case reported in the Neelangarai police station limits on April 10. According to police sources, K. Babu (24) of Adambakkam, working as a Site Engineer in a private company, was attacked by the two-member gang that came on a motorcycle and relieved of his mobile phone and purse containing Rs. 300. The incident took place in broad daylight on the K.K. Road that connects the Old Mahabalipuram Road with the East Coast Road.Assistant Commissioner of Police (Thoraipakkam) K.N. Murali formed a special team led by the Neelangarai Inspector S. Thennarasu, to investigate the case. Following specific clues, the team arrested U. Suresh (24) of Tiruthani and R. Abdul Samathu alias Sampath (22) of Kancheepuram. The duo, involved in a few robbery and theft cases, were lodged in a Cuddalore prison and released in March. The accused confessed to having committed the robbery. The motorcycle used to commit the offence was seized. The duo was produced in a city court and remanded to judicial custody.
