Devi sought help from Government but was not successful Students collect Rs. 3 lakhs VISAKHAPATNAM: A final year student of MCA of the Gayatri Vidya Parishad PG College here needs help to undergo cochlear transplant. Audibility started decreasing for K. Devi, daughter of K.V. Satyanarayana Reddy a small farmer of Pentapdu in West Godavari district, after a bout of fever when she was five-year old and the problem is now 95 per cent. Professor and Chief Audiologist of the Government ENT Hospital in Hyderabad V.U. Nandur examined her and suggested to have cochlear transplant by May 10. However, the amount of Rs.6.5 lakhs needed for the transplant and hospital expenses is a big burden for Ms. Devi’s family. She recently lost her elder sister due to a heart problem. She sought help from Government but was not successful. She does not come under the Arogya Sri health insurance and only 25 per cent of the expenses would be reimbursed only after the surgery is completed. Understanding her plight her classmates and other students of the GVP PG College, with the help of management, went round the colleges in the city and collected Rs.3 lakhs. Ms. Devi needs Rs.3.5 lakhs more for having the cochlear transplant. Coordinator of GVP D. Dakshina Murthy appealed to the donors to help Ms. Devi. Their contributions can be sent to Dr. Dakshina Murthy, at the GVP Degree and PG College, Sector VIII, MVP Colony, Visakhapatnam-17 (mobile 98666 93797). Ms. Devi can be contacted on her mobile 99519 48599 or email devi05.karri@gmail.com. Interested donors can also contact P. Nagaraju, a student of the college on 96421 23222 for details.
