MUMBAI: State-run utility Power Grid Corporation (PGCIL) on Saturday said it has earmarked Rs. 12,000 crore for its capital expenditure programme for this fiscal. The downturn in global economies has not affected its operations. “Our capex for 2009-10 is over Rs. 12,000-crore. Last year, it was Rs. 8,095-crore,” Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) Chairman and Managing Director S. K. Chaturvedi told reporters here. There had been no impact of the slowdown as far as the transmission was concerned, he said, adding that “PGCIL has sustained its operations and realised its target”. The corporation plans to add 37,800 MW of inter-regional transmission capacity in the XI Plan, he added. — PTI
