CME at Railway Hospital

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: A two-day continuing medical education programme (CME) on ‘Common paediatric cardiac diseases and their management and preventive cardiology’ was inaugurated at Railway Hospital, Perambur on Friday by V.K. Ramteke, Director-General, Railway Health Services, Railway Board, New Delhi.

Southern Railway General Manager M.S. Jayanth presided over the function.

Speakers pointed out that early diagnosis and intervention were mandatory for children with congenital heart disease as it might not be curable with the progress of the disease. Recent advances in interventional cardiology had increased the scope of management in children as open heart surgery could be avoided.

Railway Hospital, Perambur, had acquired significant expertise in management of the condition through the percutaneous procedures.
