PALAKKAD: The candidates of political parties for the Palakkad and Alathur (SC) Lok Sabha constituencies filed their election expenses with the Election Commission on Saturday. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate for the Palakkad Lok Sabha constituency M.B. Rajesh (CPI-M) spent Rs.6.34 lakh; United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate Satheeshan Pacheni (Congress), Rs. 5.45 lakh; and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee C.K. Padmanabhan, Rs. 5.08 lakh. Election expenses of all 10 candidates in the constituency totalled Rs.25.23 lakh. In AlathurIn the Alathur (SC) constituency, LDF candidate P.K. Biju’s (CPI-M) election expenses was Rs.7.72 lakh, and UDF candidate N.K. Sudheer (Congress), Rs. 3.37 lakh. The eight major candidates in the Alathur constituency together incurred expenses of Rs.15.04 lakh for their poll campaign. The expense is for the period from March 23, when the election notification was issued, to April 14, when the public campaign came to a close.
