Rachana dazzles spectators with her dance show

Mimicry show on elections entertains the audience

VISAKHAPATNAM: The classical dance performance of Rachana, a sixth standard student, a song by B. Sai Padma lampooning politicians who chase voters, some hilarious anecdotes and other skits playing on the word ‘stomach’ and A to Z departmental stores were the highlights of ‘Vinoda Vallari, a programme jointly organised by the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority and Creative Comedy Club at the Gurajada Kalakshetram here on Sunday. VUDA and Creative Comedy Club organise entertainment programmes every third Sunday .

The performance of Ms. Rachana was professional and had a touch of class. She chose the song Muddugare Yasoda, penned by Annamayya. The thunderous applause at the end of her performance was an indication of how well the audience received her classical dance. Her folk dance to another song elicited similar applause. The skit in which there was a pun on the word ‘stomach’ was also well received.

Popular duet

While the innocent daughter, after over-eating complains of stomach ache, the rustic father mistakes it for ‘pregnancy’. A popular duet of Ghantasala and Suseela was sung by two males, one imitating the voice of Suseela. The mimicry show, imitating popular film personalities with the background of the on-going elections, was also well received.

The lyric on votes written and sung by Ms. Sai Padma was another highlight of the entertainment programme. She is the president of the Global Aid.

Sai Padma, who is polio-affected, said that ‘there is ability in disability’ and the Global Aid encourages this ability.

As part of the programme, noted painter, cartoonist and theatre artist Vasamsetti Ramakrishna Ganga Raju alias ‘Ganga’ was felicitated. Media advisor of VUDA, B.Prabhakara Reddy, thanked the participants and the audience.
