For details contact A. Jesuraj, secretary, ph: 27793322 or 9849278268. Ramana Rao deadFormer international cricket umpire Ivaturi Ramana Rao passed away in the City on Sunday. He collapsed while travelling in a bus and was declared brought dead to a private hospital. He was 79. Ramana Rao, rated as one of the most respected umpires, officiated in the West Indies-India match which was also a benefit tie for former India captain Ghulam Ahmed. Ramana Rao passed the umpires examination along with V.K. Ramaswamy and has been on the State panel for a long time before retiring in 1988. The Hyderabad Cricket Association Secretary, N. Shivlal Yadav, expressed condolences to the bereaved family members. Cricket Umpires Association of Hyderabad also expressed profound shock at the demise of a “gentleman umpire.”
