4 candidates file papers

PUDUCHERRY: Candidates of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) and two Independents on Tuesday filed nominations for the Puducherry Lok Sabha constituency.

All the four filed their papers before Returning Officer for Puducherry Parliamentary Constituency G. Ragesh Chandra.

The DMDK candidate, K.A.U. Asanaa (54), hails from the Karaikal region and holds a bachelors degree in arts from Arignar Anna College, Karaikal.

In his affidavit filed before the Returning Officer, Mr. Asana has said that he has Rs. 10,000 in cash and savings to the tune of Rs. 3 lakh. His wife Sirajunisa has 75 sovereigns of gold ornaments worth Rs. 6 lakh. The candidate’s house on Duplex Street, Karaikal, is worth around Rs. 30 lakh.

The CPI (ML) candidate, Balasubramanian S. (50), holds a bachelors degree in science from Tagore Arts College, Puducherry. He has a bank balance of Rs. 500 and his wife K. Kodai has Rs. 1,000. He also has deposits to the tune of Rs. 12,191 and his wife, Rs. 8,900.

Mr. Balasubramanian has insurance policies to the tune of Rs. 5 lakh in two companies. He also owns two motorbikes, 80 gm of gold ornaments worth Rs. one lakh and a non-agriculture land in Cuddalore worth around Rs. 2 lakh.

Independents Senkadira (35), a businessman from Puducherry, and Rajendran (40) from Kuruvinatham, also filed nominations.
