Sukh Ram gets interim bail

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday granted interim bail to former Union Communications Minister Sukh Ram in a disproportionate assets case.

A trial court in February this year had sentenced Sukh Ram to three years’ imprisonment holding him guilty of amassing property disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Granting bail to him till May 14, Justice S. Muralidhar issued a notice to the CBI on an appeal by Sukh Ram challenging his conviction in the case by the trial court. The disproportionate assets case is an offshoot of the telecom equipment supply case of 1996.
