Housewife found dead

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: A 47-year-old housewife in Korattur was found dead on Tuesday at her house in Kamaraj Nagar. Police said that it was a murder for gain and 15 sovereigns of gold jewellery were missing.

The victim, Bhuvaneshwari, was found dead at 11.30 p.m., by her husband Srinivasan, on his return from his mobile phone recharge shop on CTH Road in Padi. He found her lying in a pool of blood with stab injuries on her neck, chest and shoulders. The woman was alone when the incident happened as their only son Surendar (24), who works in an automobile spare parts shop, was away at his grandparents’ house. Police said that the murderers could have entered the house through its back door as the grill gate in front was locked when Srinivasan arrived.

A sniffer dog was pressed into service.
