Christian federation fields candidate

Coimbatore: The All Christian People’s Federation has fielded J.D. Socrates, an advocate, as their candidate for the Coimbatore LS seat.

The decision to field a candidate is because of the failure of the various parties to protect the Christian community. The demands of the federation included withdrawal of the ‘false’ cases against Christians in the name conversions, withdrawal of restrictions being imposed on construction of places of worship and allocation of land for burial ground.

The government should withdraw the announcement that Dalit Christians would be given concessions if they converted to Hinduism, it said.
