Hospital blamed for youth’s death

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Tension prevailed for some time on Seppings Road on Friday after relatives of a 23-year-old man protested against the hospital authorities blaming them of medical negligence for his death.

According to the police, Shanmugam (23), who went to cast his vote on Thursday, complained of cold and fever soon after he returned home. Shanmugam, who was set to marry in the next week, was immediately admitted to Popular Nursing Home. Following the instructions of the doctor, the nursing home personnel administered an injection and asked him to take rest.

Early on Friday morning, Shanmugam’s brother, Babu, noticed that his brother was dead. He called his relatives and staged a protest against the hospital authorities. They damaged some of the hospital equipment, the police said.

The protesters were pacified by the police who came to the hospital.
