Bangalore: Two persons, including the chairman of Bilal Masjid in Pillanna Garden, near Kadugondanahalli, were injured after they were attacked near the masjid by four unidentified armed men in the City on Friday leading to tension in the area for some time. The injured have been identified as masjid chairman Amir Jan (63) and his friend Kasim. A dispute over land is suspected to be behind the attack. Amir is a resident of Kadugondanahalli who is involved in real estate business for the last few years and allegedly dealt with several disputed lands, the police said. On Friday evening, he attended namaz and was returning with Kasim on a two-wheeler. The miscreants approached the victims on two motorcycles and attacked them with knives before speeding away. Both were shifted to a private hospital on Old Airport Road and they are said to be out of danger, the police said. Following the incident, tension prevailed after a large crowd gathered near the mosque and demanded an arrest of the culprits. A few people have been questioned, the Kadugondanahalli police said. Student ends lifeA 23-year-old student of Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT) committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling in Jayanagar 4th block here on Thursday evening. The victim, identified as Madhav Sharma, a native of Nepal, was pursuing his fourth semester in Mechanical Engineering at BIT, the Jayanagar police said. On Thursday, his friends went out for a movie and the victim who refused to join them hanged himself. The victims’ roommates informed the police that Sharma had fights with his parents regularly and due to this he was frustrated. However, the reason behind the suicide is not known, the police said. Youth killedA 22-year-old college dropout died in an accident after the two-wheeler on which he was travelling collided with a good carrier near BEL Circle in the early hours of Friday. The Yeshawantpur traffic police identified the victim as R. Harish, resident of Doddabommasandra and a diploma student of Acharya Polytechnic College on Hesaragatta Road. According to family members, Harish was a follower of Congress leader Krishna Byregowda and had actively campaigned for Krishna Byregowda. On Thursday after working for the Congress leader, he was returning home when the accident took place, the police said. The driver of the goods carrier abandoned the vehicle and escaped. Found deadAn employee of Vidhana Soudha was found dead on the pavement of Jai Bhima Nagar near BTM layout here on Friday. According to the police, the deceased, identified as Puttaswamy, was working as a Dalayat in Vidhana Soudha. Injuries were found on his nose. The police suspect that he could have fallen and died.
