UPA soft on terrorism: Yeddyurappa
Staff Correspondent
Vandse (Udupi District): Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said on Saturday that there was a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wave in the State. He was speaking at an election meeting of the BJP here. Vandse village in Udupi district is part of Shimoga parliamentary constituency.
Mr. Yeddyurappa said that in the first phase of elections in the State for the 17 seats, for which polling had been completed, the BJP would win 13 seats. In the second phase, of the 11 seats, the party would win at least eight seats. The situation in Shimoga was in favour of the BJP. “We will get a lead of at least 8,000 votes in Sorab taluk alone”, he said. Unlike the UPA Government, which took a soft line in dealing with terrorism, the BJP-led-National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would deal with the matter sternly. Ever since it took charge, the BJP Government had taken steps to implement various welfare schemes designed to ensure social justice, he added. Most of the schemes were targeted at the weaker sections of society such as Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
