Normality returns in Tadipatri

ANANTAPUR: Tadipatri remained peaceful on Saturday after witnessing violent incidents on Friday. Commercial establishments and government offices functioned normally with police infusing confidence among people with heavy security arrangements.

The police arrested 25 persons belonging to the Congress including Tadipatri Agriculture Market Committee Chairman Bhogati Narayana Reddy and S.V. Ravindra Reddy and 17 persons belonging to the TDP including Peram Pratap Reddy. In all, three cases each were registered against TDP and Congress leaders and activists.

Another three cases were registered on complaints lodged by Tadipatri DSP M. Srinivasulu, a television channel contributor and a housewife. The DSP and house wife complained of attack by mob, while the TV channel contributor complained about snatching of his video camera and attack by Congress activists.

Minister for Panchayat Raj J.C. Diwakar Reddy visited the houses of Congress activists allegedly attacked by the TDP activists. Similarly, a TDP delegation visited the victims of TDP, who were allegedly attacked by Congress activists. The

Meanwhile, a woman allegedly committed suicide along with her two children at C.Ramarajupalli in Pedda Vaduguru mandal in the district on Saturday, allegedly due to the threats to her husband by the local Congress activists. According to the information reaching here, Rajeswari (24), doused herself and her son Somasekhar (4) and daughter Hinduja (1) with kerosene and torched.
