MANGALORE: The Excise Department personnel on Saturday seized illegal liquor and a scooter which was being used to transport it. Maikasi, the accused, has been arrested by the department. Directed by K. Bheemappa, Joint Commissioner of Excise, Vinod, Excise Inspector, seized 86.9 litres of liquor and the scooter at Kulashekahr at around 3 p.m. Mr. Vinod told The Hindu that the accused had been produced before the court as he was carrying the liquor for the dry days, prior to election.
