Six judges will select three best playlets and two best plays Cash award Rs.10,000 and Rs.8000 for every play and playlet staged VISAKHAPATNAM: As many as 14 playlets and eight plays would be staged at the ‘19th Paruchuri Raghubabu Smaraka Naatakotsavams-2009’ beginning from April 27 at the Kalaabharathi auditorium in Pithapuram colony. The prize distribution function on May 1 would be held in the Children’s Theatre of Visakhapatnam Urban development Authority. These competitions are held in memory of Raghubabu, son of popular script and dialogue writer Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao. The APEX Encon Projects Limited and Veluvolu Trust are the sponsors of the programme. Giving details of the competitions to mediapersons here on Saturday, Mr. Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao, the elder of the script writers ‘Paruchuri Brothers’ and Managing Trustee of the Raghubabu Memorial Trust, said that all plays and play-lets that are selected would be recorded and the CDs would be sent to film producers and directors. It is a forum for exhibition of histrionic talents from where film industry could also draw. He said that six judges would select three best play-lets and two best plays. These would again be played in Hyderabad on September 6. Associations from Delhi and Khargapur are participating in the competitions. All are social plays. A cash award Rs.10,000 and Rs.8000 would be given to every play and play-let that is staged respectively. Separate prizes which include silver plates would be given for best plays and artistes. D. Rama Naidu, described as movie moghul, will be the chief guest on the inaugural function and film producer, M.S. Raju, and actor-producer Narayana Murthy would grace the concluding function. Director of APEX Encon, KSMK Murthy and cultural secretary of Veluvolu Trust, Y.A. Naidu attended the media conference.
