Dal Khalsa wants U.N. intervention

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: Expressing solidarity with the Tamils in Sri Lanka, the radical Sikh organisation, Dal Khalsa, has urged the United Nations to intervene and save thousands of innocent lives trapped in the war-torn island.

In a statement here over the weekend, party secretary for political affairs Kanwar Pal Singh said the Dal Khalsa was moved by the sufferings of the Tamil population in Sri Lanka. Praising “the spirit and steadfastness of Tamil Eelam fighters,” the group’s spokesperson said the Sri Lankan government was getting away with broad daylight murder and mayhem while the international community was not taking any action to minimise the misery and suffering of the thousands.
