New container service from Tuticorin

Tuticorin: The container handling in Tuticorin Port was ranked third among the Indian major ports. It handled 4, 38,548 Twenty Foot Equivalent Units last financial year.

A new container liner services operated by Caravel Logistics started its maiden service to West Coast ports connecting Tuticorin with Mundra and Cochin from Tuticorin Port on Fridaywith once in ten days schedule. The first service was commenced by loading of 100 containers on the vessel mv. ‘Reestborg’. It was expected that more refrigerated cargo as well as break bulk cargo like marbles, tiles, minerals and cotton are likely to be handled through this Liner. The coastal service was expected to benefit a large number of shippers and traders of the Indian Peninsula.

G.J.Rao, Chairman, Tuticorin Port Trust, and A. Subbiah, Deputy Chairman, greeted the Caravel Logistics.
