KANNUR: A.P. Abdullakutty, sitting Member of Parliament of Kannur who was expelled from the Communist Party of India (Marxist), joined the Congress at a public function here on Tuesday. He assured the gathering that he would uphold the party’s ideals. Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala inaugurated the function in which Mr. Abdullakutty received the primary membership of the party from District Congress Committee president P. Ramakrishnan amidst huge applause from the gathering. Addressing the function, Mr. Abdullakutty said he was happy to join the Congress, though belatedly, since it was the biggest democratic movement in the world.
