MYSORE: Describing the decision of Minister for Tourism G. Janardhan Reddy to not suspend mining by Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) even after the Centre’s directive to the Andhra Pradesh Government to suspend the mining licences to five mines, including OMC, till a survey by the Survey of India was completed, as a threat to the country’s federal structure, KPCC president R.V. Deshpande has demanded the Minister’s resignation. Speaking at an interaction programme organised by the Mysore District Journalists’ Association here on Tuesday, Mr. Deshpande also demanded resignation of Revenue Minister G. Karunakara Reddy and Health Minister B. Sriramulu, as they are partners in the mining company. “Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa should resign owning moral responsibility to the loot of the State’s exchequer,” he said. He criticised the State Government for failing to distribute rice at Rs. 2 a kg to BPL families and ensure uninterrupted power supply to farmers as promised in the Bharatiya Janata Party manifesto. “No section of society is happy with the BJP governance. Minorities are living under fear after attacks on churches in various parts of the State,” he said. He said that the BJP Government had failed on all fronts because of “inexperienced” Ministers.
