Ramadoss terms fast “drama”

TIRUNELVELI: DMK president and Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi, by not sincerely striving to ensure eternal truce in Sri Lanka, has betrayed the Tamils there, Pattali Makkal Katchi founder S.Ramadoss alleged on Tuesday.

“…He is staging dramas one after the other in the guise of taking steps to save Sri Lankan Tamils,” Dr.Ramadoss said while addressing an election meeting at Palayamkottai to seek votes for AIADMK candidate for Tirunelveli Lok Sabha seat K.Annamalai.

Terming Mr.Karunanidhi’s fast on Monday a “drama jointly conceived by the DMK president and Union Home Minister P.Chidambaram,” Dr.Ramadoss said a phone call from the Chief Minister to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi to convey that the DMK would withdraw its support to the Congress-led Union government if effective measures were not taken to ensure ceasefire in Sri Lanka, would have got the desired results.

Noting that the change of guard at the Central government after the elections would ensure the formation of Tamil Eelam, the PMK founder said that it would also lead to the formation of a new government in Tamil Nadu.
