Idols consecrated on campus of Pydah institutions

VISAKHAPATAM: Consecration of idols at Sri Saranya Venkateswara Swamy temple was performed at the campus of Pydah Educational Institutions at Gambheeram on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday. This was followed by performance of ‘Sreevaari Kalynam’ and ‘Asta Mangaladarsan’.

The consecration was done by the chairman of the institution, Pydah Krishan Prasad and his wife Rama Devi.

Finance Minister K. Rosiah, Vaibhav Group chairman Manoj Kumar Grandhi, Kankatala Textiles chairman Mallik and a large number of devotees were present.

According to Mr. Krishna Prasad, there would be ‘Vedaparayanam’ and ‘Aaraadhana’ from Thursday till Saturday and devotees could participate in these events.

‘Dial your varsity’

Andhra University is conducting its Dial Your University programme from 10 a.m. to noon on May 2. Interested can call 0891 2844455 during that time to receive information about the university.

Temple festival

The annual festival of Sri Durgamamba temple at Shanti Nagar on Kailasapuram road will be celebrated on May 3. Temple ceremonies will commence at 6 a.m. and procession of the deity will be taken out in the evening.

Free classes

Sree Padma United Rehabilitation Trust for Humanity and Youth (SPURTHI) is organising free classes in sewing, embroidery, art work and other fashion design subjects for women and girls on every Sunday till June 7. Interested can call 94403 87882 for registration and details.

No meat shops

A holiday has been declared for meat shops and fish stalls in connection with May Day on Friday.

Meat traders and butchers in GVMC limits have been warned of action if they violate the norm.
