Unperturbed: Ex-chairman of Satyam Computers Ramalinga Raju being escorted from a court in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

HYDERABAD: The ex-chairman of Satyam Computers B. Ramalinga Raju and other accused in the fraud that hit the company were in a relaxed mood when they were produced in the court here on Wednesday to collect copies of charge sheet filed against them by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Ramalinga Raju, in particular, appeared unperturbed as he freely conversed with a friend and co-accused while sitting outside the court hall. He was in possession of a book titled “Understanding physics” which he quickly tucked behind his back in his trouser as media personnel eyed him. He was also seen talking to Price Waterhouse auditor S. Gopalakrishnan, a co-accused, on the finer points of their spectacles. Ramalinga Raju removed his spectacles and explained a point to Gopalakrishnan.

On the other hand, former chief financial officer of Satyam, Srinivas Vadlamani was willing to talk politics to lawyers and media persons. He told this reporter that Telangana Rashtra Samiti candidate for Jangaon Assembly constituency Kommuri Pratap Reddy was his classmate in Badruka College of Commerce. The accused waited in the corridor outside the court hall for nearly two hours as their relatives also hung around anxiously. Armed policemen escorted them to the bus to take them back to jail after the court proceedings.

When they were made to stand in the witness box on being summoned inside the court hall, the magistrate called each one by his name.
