From HP to Rajasthan

Himachal Transport Minister Krishan Kapoor will campaign for the BJP candidate against the Congress candidate from Jodhpur, Chandresh Kumari, at the invitation of Rajasthan BJP. Mr. Kapoor had defeated her in the recently held Vidhan Sabha elections from Dharamsala constituency in a multi-cornered contest. Ms. Kumari, who belongs to the royal family of Jodhpur and is elder sister of Maharaja Gaj Singh, was married into a small princely family from Lambagraon in Kangra. She was thrice MLA from Dharamsala and made a Minister in the last Congress government. She was also a Rajya Sabha member from Himachal Pradesh and President of All India Mahila Congress Committee. The Congress high command had decided to field her in the elections from Jodhpur after the recent delimitation, which left the constituency a Rajput stronghold. Her brother, who was a BJP sympathiser, is now campaigning with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for his sister.
