Stop holiday, return to work: PR tells YSR

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Praja Rajyam has demanded that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy cut short his holiday, return here and convene a Cabinet meeting immediately to initiate measures for overcoming acute power and water shortage gripping the State.

At a press conference here on Thursday, PR leaders C. Ramachandraiah and Vanga Geeta accused Dr. Reddy of abdicating his responsibility and leaving people to fend for themselves.

Dr. Reddy was probably thinking that he was no longer the Chief Minister, they added. Water and power crises were quite severe in the villages and there was no electricity for even three to four hours and accused the government of serving “death warrants on farmers”.

Never before were people so badly neglected and warned that the phenomenon of suicides by farmers might increase unless the government took steps to improve the power situation.
