Death condoled

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has condoled the death of eminent Urdu littérateur Qamar Rais, who was also vice-chairman of the Urdu Academy, Delhi.

Describing Prof. Rais as a multi-faceted personality, she said he was a well-known writer, poet, critic and intellectual and his role in enriching Urdu literature would always be remembered.

Prof. Rais died aged 77. He was also Head of the Department of Urdu at Delhi University
