Congress targets Vijender Gupta

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Leader of Opposition in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, J. K. Sharma, has levelled allegations of “irregularities” against the former MCD Standing Committee chairman Vijender Gupta during his tenure that expired on March 31.

Along with Mr. Sharma, former Delhi Mayor Farhad Suri also joined in to accuse Mr. Gupta, who has been fielded by the Bharatiya Janata Party for the Lok Sabha from Chandni Chowk against Congress heavyweight Kapil Sibal.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Mr. Sharma said: “Mr. Gupta has unduly favoured a non-government organisation run by his wife. There was also a scam in buying Ayurvedic medicines during his tenure.”

“Vijender Gupta has also been unsuccessful in implementing various key projects ,” he added.
