Sandeep Dikshit promises to upgrade health facilities

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Congress candidate for the Lok Sabha from East Delhi, sitting MP Sandeep Dikshit, on Thursday expressed his commitment to developing the social and health infrastructure in the constituency after admitting it was under “considerable strain” at the moment.

Campaigning in Shahdara and Patparganj, Mr. Dikshit said though medical facilities in Maharishi Dayanand Hospital and GTB Hospital had been expanded, medical services in East Delhi needed to be further enhanced and upgraded.

Listing some of the work done for the welfare of senior citizens and widows during his tenure as MP, Mr. Dikshit said: “More widows and senior citizens have received pension during my tenure and the pension amount has also been increased.”

Meanwhile, the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, campaigning for BJP candidate Chetan Chauhan accused the Congress of being “insensitive” on the issue of price rise and unemployment.
