Welcome step: Chief Justice of Madras High Court Hemant Laxman Gokhale inaugurating the District Munsif Court at Palladam on Friday. Tirupur: A district judge’s court will be established for the newly formed Tirupur district at the earliest, according to Justice Hemant Laxman Gokhale, Chief Justice of Madras High Court. Inaugurating a District Munsif Court at Palladam on Friday, he said that the proposed district judge’s court in Tirupur would be set up with the assistance of Tirupur Bar, which had already assured full cooperation. Mr. Justice Gokhale said that setting up of the separate District Munsif Court by bifurcating the Judicial Magistrate-cum- District Munsif Court at Palladam, was aimed at easing the burden on the single judge available at the ‘JM-cum-DM court’ and thereby reduce the pile of case backlog. “About 1,000 suits, 1,200 each of civil miscellaneous petitions and criminal cases and 400 other cases were pending with the JM-cum-DM court,” he pointed out. He said that in an attempt to take justice to the door steps of litigants and ensure speedy justice, lots of courts had been opened across the state in the last 45 days. Terming the incidents that happened on Madras High Court premises during the period before and after February 19 as “most unfortunate”, Mr. Justice Gokhale called upon the lawyers to always consider the court as a temple of justice. He cited an incident that took place in Madras High Court recently in which the Judge had to serve a contempt notice on a senior lawyer for shouting in the court when the opposite party simply asked for an adjournment. “The advocates should appear properly and present the cases in the Court to earn good names rather showing tantrums when judgements did not come in their favour,” he appealed. Role modelsHe asked the lawyers to follow the footsteps of eminent freedom fighters-cum-advocates like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawarhalal Nehru and B.R. Ambedkar, who excelled in their profession and life by displaying self control. Madras High Court Judge Justice M. Sathyanarayanan, Principal District Judge (Coimbatore) G. Chockalingam, Chief Judicial Magistrate (Coimbatore) G. Balu and president of Palladam Bar Association A Sivasubramanian were among those who spoke.
