DAVANGERE: Revenue Minister G. Karunakar Reddy and Agriculture Minister S.A. Ravindranath have claimed that workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party did not clash with those of the Janata Dal (S) in Harihar on Thursday, during polling. They said the death of Janata Dal (S) worker Vijaykumar Kondajji occurred during a clash between workers of the Janata Dal (S) and the Congress. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, the Ministers claimed that the deceased had a massive heart attack a month ago. “Vijaykumar might have had another heart attack during the tension between supporters of the Janata Dal (S) and the Congress on Thursday. Only the post-mortem report and opinions of the forensic experts will reveal the truth. We urge the Janata Dal (S) and the Congress leaderships not to politicise the issue and instead wait for a few more days till the reports are made public,” they said. The Ministers also claimed that Harihar MLA B.P. Harish had not gone to the booth at all, and holding him responsible for the incident was unfair. They said Mr. Harish had gone to some other place to attend a function and that he was in no way connected with the incident. While expressing concern over the death of Vijaykumar, they appealed to political leaders not to blow things out of proportion.
