Highest voter turnout in Honnali segment Konanathale records 98.30 per cent DAVANGERE: The highest voter turnout in the elections to the Davangere Lok Sabha constituency has been recorded in Honnali Assembly segment (76.48 per cent), while the lowest was in the Davangere south segment (57.49 per cent). The overall polling percentage in the constituency is 67.50. Polling in Mayakonda was 74.48 per cent, in Chennagiri 72.57 per cent, Jagalur 70.85 per cent, Davangere north 57.69 per cent, Harpanahalli 67.61 per cent and 67.53 per cent in Harihar. LowestOf the 13,44,587 voters in the constituency, 9,07,579 exercised their franchise. Konanathale village in Honnali taluk registered the highest polling of 98.30 per cent, while polling station number 143 in Davangere south registered the lowest. The Honnali Assembly segment is represented by BJP MLA M.P. Renukacharya, while Davangere south is represented by Congress candidate Shamanur Shivashankarappa. Davangere south has a large presence of minorities and is said to be a Congress stronghold. The low polling percentage in the segment has deprived the Congress of much-needed numbers. EVMsThe electronic voting machines (EVMs) have been stored in the UBDT College and DRR Government Polytechnic here under tight security. Counting will be held on May 16.
